Trey Songz Hit With $25 Million Lawsuit Over 2016 Rape Claim

Published: Friday 10th Feb 2023 by Rashad

The legal woes continue to mount for R&B singer Trey Songz.

Having made headlines for accusations of physical and sexual assault more than his music over the last few years, those who were hoping the GRAMMY nominee’s 2023 would shape up to be different were dealt a disappointing hand when news of a re-filed lawsuit hit the Web Thursday (February 9).

Details inside.

An unidentified woman (going by the alias “Jane Doe”) re-filed a $25 million suit against Songz over claims he raped her in 2016. Unique to the new suit is the inclusion of his record label (Atlantic Records) and manager Kevin Liles as defendants. According to Doe they should also be held responsible for the ‘Heart Attack’ hitmaker’s actions.

As we reported here, her first lawsuit was dismissed last year.

In the re-filed lawsuit, Doe – who acknowledges she did have a consensual sexual history with Songz – maintains the crooner (born Tremaine Neverson) sodomized her during a party in March 2016 without her consent and ignored her cries to stop.

“This case is much more than about one singer and one viciously abused sexual assault survivor who has the courage to take action,” George Vrabeck, Doe’s attorney, says. “It’s also very much about the systematic sexual abuse in the music industry and the music industry’s complicity in silencing sexual abuse survivors. It’s virtually impossible to believe that those executives are not and were not aware of the institutionalized sexual abuse.”

Doe alleges Neverson verbally harassed her long after the alleged sexual assault, even calling her names when they would see each other publicly.  The incidents caused her fear of the singer to be so great she reportedly moved to another state.

At writing, Trey has not spoken publicly about the re-filed suit.

    I’m on the fence here.

A case being dismissed doesn’t mean someone is 100% innocent.

On the other hand…if she is truly lying, Trey should counter sue with defamation because these allegations are costing him his reputation and the bag.

Uh… what she said made perfect sense, no? It wasn’t an opinion.

You are a creep. The energy you are giving is enabling liars to falsely accuse innocent people and their well-being. That’s sick, demonic behavior. If she is lying, she should be jailed. These allegations will tarnish someones image and with this soft @ss, weak society now, that is a big deal.

Well then someone like Trey Songz should have women speaking out and defending his name. The same woman should NOT be suing you multiple times unless she feel her allegations can hold up against him despite the verdict.

Remember what happened to R. Kelly.
